We don’t think anybody would object at the thought of getting something for nothing, but it’s not often possible. Think about it, any of the Free Gifts that you can get are normally not Free.
A Free CD on a Magazine certainly isn’t Free, because these Magazines are double the price of the others! But Computer Software is one of the rare occasions, where you can get something for nothing. Freeware are Programs that the owners allow to be distributed for nothing, there is no need to pay anything to use this Software Legally. You could use Windows for Free but that would be Illegal, and that’s exactly why it’s not Freeware!
You can get Freeware to do pretty much anything these days we’re going to talk about Free Music Software for your Computer.
There are many different Freeware Music Players available, some include:
Winamp is one of the most popular Freeware Music Players. There is also a Professional Commercial version available that has a few extra features. Winamp is popular because of the ability to skin it, and also there are plenty of Plug-ins available to make Winamp do many different tasks. You can use Winamp, because the Play list is a lot more User-Friendly than Windows Media Player.
Real Player has been around for ages. Similar to Winamp their Basic Versions are available Free and the Professional Versions you have to pay for. If you listen to Internet Radio, then you may well already have Real Player installed on your Computer. Real Player is also capable of playing back Videos, and streaming Video.
Yahoo also offer a Media Player and is there anything that they don’t do these days? We haven’t actually tried it, but it does look quite good.
----------------
The beauty of many of the Music players is that they will automatically contact a server to find out the correct names for all of the Tracks on your Audio CD. You may not think this is that useful, but it really saves reaching for the CD case to find out the Track numbers!
All Music Players should be able to play back MP3 Music Files these are by far the most popular Files for storing Music in these days. Just select the Music Player that you like to use, almost all are virtually the same, but some offer different designs or additional little extra Features.
Music Player Software will only normally play Music, there are other alternative forms of Music Software that can help you do other tasks. CD Rippers can Rip your Audio CD’s into MP3 format, and Audio Editing Software can Edit Music Tracks. Both of these Tools are available in Freeware and commercial Programs.
Be careful when Downloading Freeware applications from the Internet. Many Companies or individuals that produce Freeware are paid, if they include some form of Spyware or Adware in their Software.
Adware can result in hundreds of annoying popups appearing on your Computer advertising anything from Computers to Porn Movies. Spyware can either monitor where you visit on the Internet, or they can Log Keystrokes. If a Program is able to record Key Strokes then Credit Card numbers and Passwords could easily be stolen.
Windows Media Player is not technically Freeware as you have to purchase Windows to use it, however the updates are available for Free. If you’re happy with Windows Media Player then why bother changing ?
